FAQ

There are many differences between School and College:

  • You can wear what you want - aside from work wear for vocational lessons, you can wear your own clothes
  • You’re considered at treated as an adult
  • You won’t be in College 5 days a week - for an average full-time course, you can expect to be in College for 3 days a week
  • Not just traditional classrooms - if you enjoyed the art department and science labs at School because they didn’t look like a typical classroom, then you’ll love College
  • A less formal teaching style - all of our tutors are experienced in working with young adults and bring their own practical work experience into their classes
  • Getting you ready for work or uni - you will get more opportunities for work experience, mentors, guest speakers and tours/visits. This will give you a real taste of your chosen career on your next step to university.

If you are aged 16-18 then the majority of our courses are free for you to study. If you are aged 19+ then there may be fees associated with the course. You may be eligible to have some, or all of these fees waived by the College, depending on your individual circumstances. Visit our Financial Support pages for more information.

You do not have to let a lack of money stop you from coming to Hugh Baird College.
